Final 100-day countdown to France 2019 begins

There are exactly 100 days to go before the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ kicks off on 7 June. The nine Host Cities will be celebrating the milestone on Wednesday, when their tournament posters will be unveiled at events all featuring ettie™, the Official Mascot. The evening will provide a sneak preview of the festive atmosphere the host nation will serve up in less than four months’ time.
At 21:00 on 7 June 2019, the Parc des Princes will provide the venue for the Opening Match of the eighth FIFA Women’s World Cup, between hosts France and Korea Republic. With just 100 days to go before the big kick-off, Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes are set to get the countdown under way by unveiling their posters for the tournament.
The posters represent their engagement and highlight their identity and everything they each have to offer. They will be unveiled when night falls on Wednesday, at the end of a special challenge laid down by herself. Each city will stage a mass penalty shootout, with the tournament mascot playing the role of goalkeeper for the occasion. Both young and old alike will be invited to step up and try to score a very special goal. In taking their spot-kicks in front of a real goal, they will see their efforts shown live and direct on the front of a nearby building, where a digital system will simulate ettie™’s attempt to save the ball.
When the 100th penalty is scored, the city’s poster will be revealed. The success of the 100-days-to-go event depends on everyone taking part. Like the values projected by the World Cup, the evening will provide an opportunity for both football lovers and non-believers to come together and share in a celebration.
’s festivities will take place at the city’s ice rink, where people can try their hand at ice football and meet Grenoble Foot 38’s men’s and women’s teams. Meanwhile, will be laying on events combining sport and culture, including an exhibition of all the city’s poster competition entries and musical entertainment. As for the people of , they will have the chance to take part in a host of activities, among them life-size board games, football, and other family-oriented fun.
