IPC Minister gives cash awards to medals winners of athletics team
Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fehmida Mirza on Wednesday distributed cash awards among players of the Pakistan athletics team who won medals at the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal from December 1-10, 2019. Pakistan athletics players won 05 gold, 02 silver and 06 bronze medals. Arshad Nadeem won javelin throw gold, Uzair Rehman won 200m gold and 4x100m relay bronze, Muhammad Naeem won 110m hurdles gold and 4x100m relay bronze, Mehboob Ali won 400m hurdlers gold and 4x400m relay bronze, Shams-ul-Haq won discuss throw bronze, Sami Ullah won 100m bronze and 4x100m relay bronze, Umar Sadat won 4x400m relay bronze, Abdul Moeed won 4x400m relay bronze, Nokar Hussain won 4x400m relay bronze andMuhammad Shahbaz won 4x400m relay bronze. In the women events, Najma Parveen won 400m hurdles gold and 200m silver, 4x400m relay silver and 4x100m relay bronze, Sahaib-a-Asra won 4x400m relay silver, 400m bronze and 4x100m relay bronze, Aneela Gulzar won 4x400m relay silver and 4x100m relay bronze, Rabia Ashiq won 4x400m relay silver and Esha Imran won 4x100m relay bronze. In line with the approved cash award policy, the gold medallists were given Rs.one million each, the silver medallists got Rs.500,000/- each while the bronze medallists received cheques for Rs.250,000/- each. Total cash awards amounting to Rs.11.250 million were awarded to the athletics players. Talking to the players, Dr Fehmida congratulated not only the medal winners, who are ambassadors of Pakistan, but also thanked the parents of the players who encouraged and supported their children to take part in the games.
